Chris Collins continues to work his recruiting magic in the Chicago area. Collins got a commitment from three-star guard Jordan Ash Wednesday.
Ash is a junior at St. Joseph High School in Chicago. He selected Northwestern over offers from Boston College, DePaul, Iowa and Purdue.
Ash is Northwestern's first commit in the class of 2015. Collins has five freshman coming in via the class of 2014 including three guards. There were certainly be a lot of young talent in the Wildcat backcourt in the coming years.
Like most of Collins' recruits, Ash likes to run the floor and get out in transition. He can throw down some highlight reel dunks and finish around the rim. Ash is a strong defender for his size and can play either point or shooting guard.
With Ash committed, Collins is expected to find a sizable forward to play alongside Alex Olah. Kale Abrahamson's decision to transfer opened up another scholarship for Collins to use to draw a junior or senior transfer to NU.
Ash should see significant minutes as early as his freshman year, but with all the young talent coming to Evanston, he will be just a role player at first.
